Dalida Turkovic
Dalida initially came to China in 1990 as student of Chinese language and literature. Love for Chinese philosophy and culture brought her back to Beijing in early 1993. Her professional experience involved variety of trades, from photography and organising adventure travel to experiential training and coaching for multinational corporations in Asia. Throughout her career community development has been a guiding value. In 2002 Dalida founded Small Steps (China) Ltd. where she proudly leads the community and adventure team in initiating various projects for Gangfang Primary school in Hebei Province (check Community Education page) and supports independent art and health related projects (check Community Art & Health page)

Zhang Dan
Born in Cangzhou City, Hebei Province in 1983 Zhang Dan left her hometown in August 2001 to study computer applications at the China Agricultural University in Beijing. In November 2003, she began to volunteer at the Positive Art Workshop, a project for people living with HIV/AIDS. While volunteering at the Positive Art Workshop, Zhang Dan became increasingly interested in community service work.In 2004 Zhang Dan started working on the Gang Fang School project teaching 4th and 5th graders basic computer skills (i.e. typing, MS Word, drawing). Through working with children in rural areas, Zhang Dan gained invaluable experience and an understanding of the development needs of these diverse communities. Currently, Zhang Dan is the Community Projects Coordinator and oversees the Gang Fang School project for Small Steps (China) Ltd. and is also working with Zhou Jie on the promotion of HIV/AIDS awareness at the Gang Fang School and in Hebei Province.
